Session replay, click heatmaps and live chat for WordPress. Logged-in users appear by name instead of as anonymous visitor ids.

== Description ==

Replaycat records how people actually use your site: what they clicked, where they hesitated, and where they gave up. You watch the visit back and fix the page.

This plugin does two things:

1. Adds the Replaycat snippet to every page of your site. No theme editing, and it survives theme updates.
2. Tells Replaycat who is logged in, so a recording says "Jane Doe" instead of "Visitor 53f51ebb". WooCommerce customers are logged-in WordPress users, so their orders carry real names with nothing extra to set up.

Inputs are masked in the visitor's browser before anything is sent, so passwords and card numbers never reach Replaycat at all.

= External service =

This plugin sends data to Replaycat, a third-party service, and will not do anything until you paste a site key from your Replaycat account.

What is sent from the visitor's browser: how the page changed, mouse and scroll positions, clicks, console messages and network timings. What this plugin adds: for a logged-in user, their WordPress user id, display name and email address, so their visit can be labelled.

== Installation ==

1. Create a free account at https://replaycat.com and add your site. Copy the site key from the Install screen. It starts with `rc_`.
2. In WordPress, go to Plugins, Add New, Upload Plugin, and choose the Replaycat zip file.
3. Activate it, then go to Settings, Replaycat, and paste the site key.
4. Open your site in a new tab and click around for ten seconds. The recording appears in Replaycat within a minute.

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= Do I still need to paste the script tag into my theme? =

No. If you already pasted it into `header.php` or a header plugin, remove it - otherwise the page carries the snippet twice.

= Will my own editing be recorded? =

Only if you want it to be. There is a setting for "Do not record users who can edit this site", off by default so you can check the install works. The WordPress admin area is never recorded either way.

= Does this work with WooCommerce? =

Yes. WooCommerce customers are logged-in WordPress users, so their name and email reach Replaycat automatically. Checkout fields are inputs, so they are masked in the browser like every other input.

= How do I update the plugin? =

Download the new zip from https://replaycat.com/docs/wordpress, then upload it the same way you installed it. WordPress asks whether to replace the existing plugin - say yes. Your site key and settings are kept.
