Alerts and Slack

Hear about a struggling visitor while they are still there.

An alert tells your team that a visitor is having trouble: a rage click, a run of errors, or one of your own events.

Rules. Open Settings, Alerts, Rules. A site starts with two: rage clicks (1 or more in a visit) and errors (3 or more). A rule says:

  • Trigger - rage clicks, dead clicks, errors, or one of your custom events.
  • Count - how many in one visit before it counts.
  • Pages - every page, or only the paths you list.
  • To - everyone on the team, or one person.
  • Limit - 1 per visitor, 1 per hour, or none.

A site can keep 10 rules.

Channels. Open Settings, Alerts, Channels. Alerts always appear in the dashboard while somebody has it open, with a sound and a desktop notification if the browser allows one. Switch on Email or Slack to hear about them with the dashboard closed.

Slack. Create an incoming webhook in Slack for the channel you want, paste the URL (it starts with https://hooks.slack.com/services/), and save. If Slack starts refusing the webhook, we switch it off and say why on this page.

Each alert links to the recording.
